Canterbury is a fantastic city, blending it’s famous historic heritage with a lively university town atmosphere. Canterbury Cathedral in the heart of the city is one of the oldest and most famous Christian structures in England, and forms part of a World Heritage Site. It is the cathedral of the Archbishop of Canterbury, leader of the Church of England and symbolic leader of the worldwide Anglican Communion.

Canterbury Historic River Tours was formed in the year 2000 but the company can trace its past and follows the traditions of the very first River Tour company based in Canterbury over 75 years ago. Much time was invested in researching the history of the wonderful buildings which grace the River Stour banks, and developing a tour which our guests of all ages would find interesting, relaxing and most of all highly entertaining as part of a day out or weekend in Canterbury.

The Marlowe Theatre is a major 1,200-seat theatre in Canterbury, completely redeveloped in 201.

The theatre was named after the playwright Christopher Marlowe, who was born and attended school in the city. In front of the present theatre is a 19th-century statue of a Muse (Marlowe is known as the Muses' darling) surrounded by small effigies of characters from Marlowe's plays.

The programme of shows includes plays, major West End musicals, ballet, contemporary dance, opera, stand-up comedy, orchestral concerts, music gigs and children's shows. Regular visiting companies include Glyndebourne Opera, National Theatre On Tour, Matthew Bourne, Propeller, Northern Ballet, Rambert Dance Company and Theatre Royal Bath.

Wye

No more than a 10 minute drive down the hill, Wye is the closest significant village to Bodsham with a large church, 2 schools, several shops, a hairdressers, a chemist, 3 pubs and a couple of restaurants. It is very picturesque, with a river and victorian railway station, and is rightly regarded as one of the prettiest villages in Kent.

Outside of the village, there are the historic monuments of the Devils Kneading Trough and Wye Crown - both offering excellent and scenic walking.
